Search continues for Iranian president's helicopter, bad weather hampers access to crash site
After the helicopter crash in Iran's East Azerbaijan Province, the search process for the country's President Ibrahim Raisi, Foreign Minister and other high-ranking officials is going on, but due to heavy fog, rescue workers have not been able to reach the accident site yet.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has appealed to the people to pray for the safety of the President and other officials.
According to Iran's official media, a helicopter included in the convoy of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi has had an accident in Julfa area of East Azerbaijan province.
This accident has been confirmed by the Iranian Minister of Interior Ahmad Vahidi
It is still unclear whether the Iranian president was in the helicopter
According to Iranian Interior Minister Ahmad Vahidi, "several rescue teams" are searching for the helicopter and "it will take time to reach the crash site" because "there is fog and bad weather conditions in the area."
The Iranian president visited East Azerbaijan province on Sunday morning, where he inaugurated a dam along with the president of Azerbaijan on the border between Azerbaijan and Iran.
